Public Education Leadership Project
The Public Education Leadership Project (PELP) is a non-partisan national program to develop and train the next generation of public education leaders, including current school board members, to advance honest, accurate, and fully-funded public education for all.
A program of the HEAL Together initiative, PELP increases awareness and promotes real commitments to racial equity as an essential part of building a multiracial democracy.
Specifically, the Public Education Leadership Project:
- Supports current and future school board members in communities around the country through mentoring and community building
- Provides training and other tools to strengthen the skills of current and future public education leaders to build stronger, more equitable public school districts
- Shows school board members how to strengthen connections and build coalitions with parents, students, and educators in local communities
- Shares model policies and movement governing strategies to raise awareness of how policymaking can be better aligned with education justice goals
