Race Forward Announces New Senior Vice President of Development and Partnerships

Simone Bermudez, an equity-focused development leader and strategist will oversee the organization’s fundraising efforts.

WASHINGTON, DC – Race Forward, one of the largest racial equity nonprofits in the country, announced today that Simone Bermudez has joined the organization as Senior Vice President of Development and Partnerships. In this role, Simone will lead a team responsible for the development and advancement of Race Forward’s fundraising and partnership strategy, including individual donations, foundation grants, philanthropy, and sponsorship. Simone will also serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Her ability to forge meaningful partnerships and foster a supportive community will be instrumental in driving our development and partnership initiatives forward.”

Simone previously worked at Jewish Vocational Service, where she served as the Director of Development and chair of the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship) governance committee. During her tenure, Simone’s strong collaborative skills led to numerous successful initiatives that significantly advanced the organization's racial equity narrative and impact.

During her career, Simone has led development efforts for a number of mission-driven nonprofit organizations, including Alternative Family Services and the American Heart Association. She has led the design and strategy of multi-million dollar campaigns, planned giving programs, and a solicitation strategy for six and seven-figure gifts.

Simone holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University and lives in the Bay Area.
