From Race Forward
- Organize with the Government Alliance on Racial Equity (GARE) inside government across functions and up and down hierarchy. Ask other government bodies to join — e.g., cities, counties and states, as well as individual departments within agencies, such as libraries, park districts, health departments and more. The success of the public sector is our collective success.
- Join the Public School Strong campaign. Led by parents, educators, students, and community members in public school districts across the country, Public School Strong is organizing to push policymakers at the local, state and federal levels to ensure that every child — regardless of zip code, race, gender or ethnicity — has access to honest, equitable and fully funded public schools. Public School Strong is a national campaign of Race Forward's HEAL Together initiative. Sign up to explore how your organization can support Public School Strong.
- Sign up for Race Forward’s training to build your skill using Racial Equity Tools for your own local actions to build governing power for racial justice. Apply, adapt, and spread these tools to organize and operationalize the essential work of racial justice.
- Fight for a federal government that advances racial justice and multiracial democracy. Use From Project 2025 TO Project 2029: How We Resist an Authoritarian Takeover and Turn Public Administration into a Force for Equity and Justice. This toolkit offers a road map to respond to the threat posed by Project 2025 to equitable, democratic and accountable public institutions, particularly our federal agencies, as well as longer-term strategies for turning public administration into a force for equity and justice.
- Support local place based organizing and narrative change. Complete this survey to help us better understand the narrative challenges and opportunities to build support and power to advance a multi-racial democracy at the local level. - Begin planning your local action as a part of the Cultural Week of Action on Race and Democracy in 2025. Launched in 2024, the week is an exciting opportunity to join with others across the country who are committed to leveraging arts and culture to advance a just, multiracial democracy. The Cultural Week of Action on Race and Democracy in 2025 will be anchored by Race Forward’s first Narrative Convening, which will serve as a lab between narrative practitioners and racial justice advocates to align on and build a narrative strategy that will disrupt and dismantle harmful dominant racist narratives, particularly with regard to health, economic mobility, immigration, queer and trans rights, governance, and democracy. Together, we will create new narratives that envision a racially just world where communities of color thrive. Register now and enjoy early bird savings of 20%.
- Donate to Race Forward. At a time that the work for racial justice and multiracial democracy are under attack, your financial support of our work is more important than ever.
From Our Facing Race Advisory Committee
- Join a We are Worth Fighting For gathering. There are over 6,000 planned across the country or host your own using this toolkit. Together, we can make meaning of the moment, deepen our connections, and think strategically about how we'll take action, individually and together.
- Join People’s Action’s Organizing Revival. Relational, power-building organizing is essential to building a multiracial pluralistic democracy that can address the rise of authoritarianism and the intertwined crises that fuel it. The Organizing Revival is our call to renew these practices to defeat authoritarianism and address interrelated crises.
- Use tools from the 22nd Century Initiative. The BLOCK, BRIDGE, & BUILD: Playbook for an Inclusive Multi-Racial Democracy is a compilation of tools and frameworks for pro-democracy organizations and organizers, storytellers, and researchers on the front lines of the fight against authoritarianism. The HOPE curriculum (Harnessing our Power to End Political Violence) is designed to help counter political violence. It aims to empower individuals and strengthen communities to make political violence backfire against those who incite, threaten and enact it.
- Call on business leaders and corporate board members to defend DEI. If you are in the corporate sector, work to implement PolicyLink’s Corporate Standards. For businesses to thrive for generations to come, advancing equity, inclusion, and socially responsible business practices is an imperative to meet the expectations of stakeholders, stay competitive, and protect sustainable value creation. The Business Standards for 21st Century Leadership were informed by extensive research, testing within companies, and the voices of people from all walks of life.
In St. Louis From Our Local Host Committee
- Join the St. Louis Freedom Community Center in building collective power through support of the WE KEEP US SAFE: POWER BUILDERS MEETUP initiative. COME BUILD, DREAM, AND HEAL WITH US! We are inviting community members of color who have been directly impacted by violence whether systemic, interpersonal, or community to collectively address the harm and violence in our neighborhoods, as an inspiration of what’s possible in communities across the country. Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month we gather at Mission St. Louis because we believe that the members of the community, who have been affected by violence, have direct knowledge of what the community needs to stay safe. This space is held so that Black community members can love, learn, and lead together. For more information and to support expanding to virtual participation, consulting, inquiries, and or donations visit here or email [email protected].
- Join Power4STL, a community of health working to reduce the impact of trauma within the St. Louis region. This includes the work of The T, a holistic harm reduction center for people at risk for overdose, as well as The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (The BRIC), a comprehensive center caring for patients and families who have been threatened or injured by a bullet. We are raising funds to complete our $6,000,000 capital campaign for the renovation of Mound City Medical Center located at 2715 Union Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63113. The Mound City Medical Center Renovation Capital Campaign was galvanized by the advocacy of Representative Cori Bush to acquire a $3,000,000 grant from HRSA through the community fund project. We need to raise an additional $3,000,000 to be able to open the center in January of 2026. Please show your solidarity in support of this initiative. Donate to Mound City Medical Center Renovation Capital Campaign, organized by LJ Punch.
- Join Dreambuilders 4 Equity in tackling the vacant home epidemic plaguing the St. Louis region by employing local youth and contractors of color to do large scale community-led development projects - putting money and equity back in the pockets of people within the community while creating workforce development and scaling minority-owned contracting businesses. Through community offerings such as the Summer Youth Academy and Apprentice Program, historically underserved youth develop the skills needed to succeed academically and professionally, while also retaining ownership and equity in the revitalized properties in the form of scholarship funds. Sponsor a future equity builder or MATCH a GIFT to propel our mission and transform communities.
- The time is NOW to save Billie Allen’s life. With only 2 short months left before President Biden leaves office, this may be our last opportunity to show that Billie Allen is innocent and prevent him from being sentenced to death for a crime that evidence proves he didn’t commit. We need urgent action now. Join us in urging President Biden to grant Billie Allen a full pardon before it’s too late. When Trump takes office, he has promised to resume federal executions, as he did during his previous term, when 13 people were executed — more than any President in history. Here’s How You Can Help: Sign and mail the postcards provided in your swag bag to the White House, and also take action online by visiting www.freebillieallen.com where you can send a message to Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland, sign our petition, and more. We are planning urgent direct actions in NYC and DC, we need volunteers to help us plan these actions and amplify Billie’s story, sign up to volunteer, or make a financial contribution to the campaign.
